Karoline Knotten will not be training this summer with the national team

At the end of the end of the season 2024/2025 Karoline was number 14 in the Biathlon World Cup. There winter was a mixed bag for her. She rarely pulled it together and fell far beneath her prior level. She did make the podium at the Hochfilzen sprint in December.
Selectors were not happy with Karoline Knotten
The selectors of the national team were not persuaded. They released their training groups on Thursday. The 30-year-old biathlete had not been selected for the national team. The selectors claimed it was not solely based on her winter performances. “Our athletes cannot subsidize 100 percent of the program,” they said. We need trust. “It is not Karoline’s wishes that we are discussing. The team boss Per Arne Botnan told TV2.
Karoline is puzzled by the decision. She explained that she wanted to train with the top Norwegians. She intended to join them. All group sessions must be attended by the selectors. Karoline thinks altitude is more important.
“I want to do the best job I can before Olympic season,” she said. For her performance in Italy in February 2026, she’s ready to dive in. Curiosity, she says, is not disloyalty.
Karoline will now train alongside Roger Grubben, her previous coach. She has a lot of altitude sessions to schedule. She is not daunted by the sporting challenge. But she needs to work through her financing challenges.
This decision has taken a lot of folks in Norway by surprise. Even legend Ole Einar Bjoerndalen has been surprised. He said he anticipated an agreement. Karoline has run well and poorly at times. Some say she ought to be included with the national team.
